What Do We Do?

Professional Development | Community Service | Philanthropy | Social Events

Professional Development

One of the most important aspects of our sorority is the professional development we do! Our organization helps sisters to connect with other engineering professionals, and assists them in developing the skills necessary to conduct themselves in a professional manner and advance within a career. Some of the events we hold are:

  1. Resume Workshops
  2. Mock Interview Sessions
  3. Dining Etiquette
  4. Professional Dress Show
  5. Group Study Hours
Etiquette Dinner

Community Service

Community service is also important to us, as we strive to follow the Virginia Tech motto Ut Prosim, “That I May Serve”. Some of our favorite service events include:

  1. Big Event – a community wide service event with thousands of participants!
  2. Relay for Life
  3. Greeks Giving Back
  4. Warm Hearth Home for Seniors
  5. Boxes for Troops
  6. Food Pantry
  7. Animal Shelter
  8. Humane Society
  9. JDRF Fundraisers and Events
(JDRF is our chapter’s philanthropy organization, so we have a close relationship with them!)
JDRF One Walk

Philanthropies, for those of you who are not familiar, usually consist of a small series of events hosted by another Greek organization, designed to raise money for a specific service organization. The events often consist of talent shows, bake sales, or other competitive events designed to encourage participation! Alpha Omega Epsilon’s philanthropy is Take It to the Max, titled after one of the founding sisters Maxine Turner, killed on April 16, 2007. The main event is a dodge ball tournament, and the funds are donated in part to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and a scholarship fund in Maxine’s name.
